k-otic was led to believe that this is p.d. because of confusion about the release date.

IMDB has 8 September 1944 (USA).

Your OCR'ed text is

MOONLIGHT AND CACTUS, a photoplay in 7
reels by Universal Pictures Co.
(C) 17Nov45; L12380. Universal Pic-
tures, a division of Universal City
Studios, Inc. (PWH); 4Dec70; R496165.

My OCR'ed text is

MOONLIGHT AND CACTUS, a photoplay in 7
reels by Universal Pictures Co.
(C) 17Nov43; L12380. Universal Pic-
tures, a division of Universal City
Studios, Inc. (PWH); 4Dec70; R496165.

My original search was based on the assumption that the release date was 1944, so the 1970 renewal registers weren't searched.

The date is 1943. My OCR'ing glitched.

OCR'ing is not very reliable.

Anyhow, k-otic was misled about the p.d. status of the film; it will have to be removed, I guess.

In the future, I'm thinking about showing renewals as images. See the attachment.

That would be the best possible way to show renewals for pre-1950 movies.

However, k-otic's lists are so long that you may not want to do it routinely for him.

I'll leave the k-otic pre-1950 lists to you. I find renewals one at a time in the catalog PDFs using my Mac's Spotlight feature, so it isn't a big deal to just capture an image rather than OCR the image's contents.
